Hey

so I want to write about how I listen to music on my laptop and it soounds awesome.

So I have got a pair of headphonex Audio-Technika ath msr-7b. My mate bought me an audio cable for my birthday. It costed 35 pounds. The other day I went to the shop, where they sell turntables and speakers, and I bought some nice cable for 30 pound s! the sound was so powerful

So I think it's great how I listen to tunes... I usually prefer to listen to full albums instead of single songs of differen t artists... I use my x200 laptop, and I have got a nice OS installed, where I can install Audacious, which is awesome! I also enjoy ripping CD's to .wav format. Audio server on this OS is just alsa, but I can also use openBSD sndio.

In Audacious I set up equalizer for my own preference. I use these sound effects:

Bauer Stereophonic-to-Binatural (BS2B)

Feed Level 95 x1/10 dB

Cut frequency: 650 Hz

Presets: J. Meier

Crystaliser

Dynamic Range Compressor

Extra Stereo

Intensity: 2.5

Channel Mixer

Output channels: 2

Sample Rate Converter

SoX lesampler

I also edited /etc/asound.conf and ~/.asoundrc with this resampling algorhithm:

pcm.device{

format S24_LE

rate 96000

type hw

card 0

device 0

}

pcm.!default{

type plug

slave.pcm "device"

}

I used k3b audio to rip music. The size of music files is quite heavy, one file is 60mb.

There's another resampling line available, because the one above consumes more CPU, probably because of 96Khz frequencies, so this one is 48Khz

pcm.!default {

type rate

slave {

pcm "hw:0,0"

rate 48000

}

converter "speexrate_best"

}

I also removed some sponge from the speakers, had to unscrew the plastic! Headphones are a bit fragile, but sound powerful. It's nice when there's a crystal clear sound from the speakers. A quality cable is important! :P Storing the audio files is important too! I think it's great to use fast usb-sticks or maybe on your own server? :)
